Enjoy the below conversation with Libby’s partner Haylie Duff as she dishes about family, food and how to create a memorable holiday with Libby’s® Canned Vegetables.

Libby’s: Hi Haylie, we’re so excited to partner with you again this year for our sixth annual #Cansgiving sweepstakes and see what delicious recipe you’ll create using Libby’s® Canned Vegetables this Thanksgiving.

Haylie: Thanks so much. I am so excited to be partnering with Libby’s again this year!

Libby’s: The holiday season is officially here and some of the most special memories take place around the dinner table surrounded by family and friends. What is one of your favorite Thanksgiving memories?

Haylie: My best Thanksgiving memories always seem to include my family and food- obviously! One funny memory that comes to mind happened at our ranch house in the Texas hill country one year. We were thawing our bird on the porch and the neighbors two big hunting dogs found it and made off with it! It was a big mystery all day! Haha.

Libby’s: That’s hilarious! Hosting the biggest meal of the year can be a challenge, what are some of your strategies for managing prep time?

Haylie: Planning ahead is the best way to make a big day of cooking a bit easier. Libby’s has wonderful pre-sliced vegetable options and that can really cut your prep time down. Anything I can do to get ahead of the game makes the big day run more smoothly.

Libby’s: We know the turkey may be the center of attention, but the side dishes are just as important as the holiday bird. What is one of your favorite Thanksgiving side dishes?

Haylie: I love the turkey, but I am all about great side dishes! Stuffing will probably always be my #1 but roasted veggies are a close second! I am loving my Maple Roasted Beets and Carrots recipe using Libby’s® Sliced Beets and Sliced Carrots! It’s a quick and easy recipe and so beautiful on your holiday table!

Libby’s: That sounds delicious. Do you have any tips on how to jazz up a traditional recipe to make it more modern?

Haylie: This actually reminds me of my mom last year! She added fresh sage to my grandmothers classic stuffing! It was so fragrant and bright that we have all voted to add it to our family’s famous recipe.  Sometimes a small change can make a big difference.

Libby’s: Libby’s sixth annual #Cansgiving Sweepstakes encourages consumers to share what they are most thankful for this holiday season for a chance to win a $500 gift card, plus an assortment of Libby's® Fruits & Vegetables products. What are you most grateful for this Thanksgiving?

Haylie: I am most grateful for my family! And not just at Thanksgiving but every day! I have become very sentimental since I have become a mama! Haha, but it’s true. I am so grateful for Matt and my girls every single day.

Libby’s: Do you have any final tips to help everyone make the most of their holidays with family or friends?

Haylie: I always say this but I really believe that it’s true – try to just relax! The best hosts are calm and enjoying themselves too! So even if you mess up a thing or two just have fun and enjoy the moments. After all, that’s what the holidays are all about!

Libby’s: Where can your fans and Libby’s consumers find you next?

Haylie: Fans can tune into a Facebook Live session with me on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. EST where I’ll share how to create my Maple Roasted Beets & Carrots recipe using Libby’s® Canned Vegetables. I’ll also be selecting two participants to be awarded with Thanksgiving-themed cooking prizes! Follow along by tuning into my Real Girl’s Kitchen Facebook page.
