Get to Baking with Libby’s® Fruits & Vegetables this Season!

Time to pre-heat the oven, it’s baking season! During the holidays there always seems to be an abundance of food readily available in the kitchen. Something about it being cold outside just draws families into the kitchen to warm up, feel good, create and bake something beautiful and delicious together.

Creating baked goods can be the perfect touch to your holiday spread. During the holiday season you can bake something to bring over to a friend’s festivities, work celebration, or even to show your appreciation for someone.

At Libby’s® Fruits & Vegetables, we see baking as a fun, festive way to bring the family together during the holiday season. As long as there is adult supervision, baking is a great way to keep kids involved in the holiday prep, including having them help measure out ingredients or add toppings.

We put together some baking tips to ensure you create a successful, tasty product to display at the table this holiday season!

  • Stock up on baking supplies
    • Make sure to have all the basics handy! Many times the same ingredient can be used in multiple recipes like flour, sugar, and baking powder. But, Libby’s® Fruits & Vegetables are also great to keep on hand, as they have a long shelf life and are easy to reach for when you want to add to a dish.  All you need to do is open a can and it is ready to go without needing to chop, dice, or peel.
  • Precisely measure baking ingredients
    • It is important to make sure all ingredients are measured accurately even when using a substitute ingredient, since it can affect the texture, color, and flavor of the finished product. This is the perfect time to teach children the importance of following directions when baking.
  • Bring on the creativity and adapt!
    • Baking is fun, especially during the holidays! Try to think of what the occasion is you are baking for, who’s going to be there, what other foods are going to be served and use that for inspiration. Maybe try a new recipe this season, or put a twist on a family favorite, experiment with new flavors– the possibilities are endless!
