Our Family History
Founded in 1868 as a canned meat company, Libby’s expanded to canned fruits and vegetables in the 1880s. Since 1983, Seneca Foods Corporation has distributed Libby’s canned vegetables.
Today, Libby’s Fruit and Vegetables is the nation’s third largest brand. With over 60 different products and sizes, it offers one of the industry’s most complete lines of canned vegetables, including organic options. Household staples such as corn, peas and green beans are among our most popular products. Click here for a complete list of Libby’s products available at a retailer near you.

Quality at a Better Price
Libby’s products are produced and distributed by Seneca Foods Corporation, an independent, publicly traded, fully integrated food processing company. Since its founding in 1949, Seneca has made significant investments in facilities and technologies to enhance manufacturing processes, increase line speeds and guarantee premium quality. In addition to producing quality foods, Seneca Foods manufactures its own cans.
As a result, many of the industry’s leading food companies turn to Seneca to manufacture their products. Approximately 10 percent of the company’s food products are packed under its own brands, including Seneca®, Libby’s®, Aunt Nellie’s Farm Kitchen®, Stokely’s®, Read®, Festal®, and Diamond A®. Portions of the Libby’s brand portfolio are also owned and distributed by Nestle and ConAgra.

Our Heritage in Fruit
Seneca Foods’ strong heritage in fruit harkens back to 1949 when the company introduced bottled grape juice to the market. Shortly thereafter, Seneca Foods was the first to introduce 100% frozen apple juice and held leading market shares in the fruit juice and apple sauce categories for many years. With a long history in fruit products, Seneca Foods is now revolutionizing the shelf-stable fruit category with the launch of Libby’s new 6-ounce Jumbo Cups™.
Seneca Food’s fruit processing facility is located on 115 acres in the heart of fruit orchard country in Modesto, CA. The state-of-the-art facility features 500,000 square feet of processing plant in addition to 1.5 million square feet of warehouse space. A full four-season supplier, Seneca Foods packs apricots, peaches, pears, grapes and other products mostly from California.
The fruit processing operation is the world’s largest, packaging fruit from 135 growers who operate over 7,000 acres of well-established orchards — the majority of them located within 30 miles of Modesto, CA. All orchards are cared for year round to yield the highest quality fruit that is harvested at the peak of freshness.
Seneca Foods is committed to being a partner in quality, customer service and profits. Click here to learn more about Seneca Foods.
