Garlicky Green Bean Casserole with Bacon & Toasted Cheese Crumbs
Serves: 8 to 10
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 1 hour
Cook bacon in a medium skillet until fairly crisp. Add onion and cook over medium-low heat for 5 minutes to soften, stirring occasionally. Stir in garlic.
Transfer to a medium-size slow cooker and stir in broth, thyme and 3 cans Libby’s® Green Beans (French Style OR Cut Green Beans). Cover and cook on HIGH for 45 minutes or up to 2 hours.
While beans are cooking, melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add bread and cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown. Add cheese a little at a time, tossing bread in skillet as it starts to melt. Cook, stirring frequently, for 10 minutes more or until bread and cheese are deep golden brown and crisp.
Transfer green beans to a serving dish and sprinkle with toasted cheese crumbs.
Enjoy!
Note: Finely shredded Parmesan cheese may be substituted for Cheddar but will not melt as easily
